In recent decades, there has been a booming development for the technologyof High-power Ultrawide-band pulse, which is widely applied in both the civil andmilitary area. In the military area, the Ultrawide-band impulse radar andElectronic interference are the main areas of the applications of this technolgy, while it has an advantage over the other technology in some of the civil areaincluding the target recognition, target detection and biomedicine. Thus, it is ofgreat meaning for both science and practical applications to make a deepinvestigation.Normally, the High-power Ultrawide-band pulse radiating system iscomposed of two parts, i.e. High-power Ultrawide-band pulse antenna and thefeeding source. In this dissertation, we mainly focus on investigating the operatingprinciples of the transmitting antenna of this system. The antenna in this system is different from the traditional antennas fordemanding the characteristics as Ultrawide band, high power tolerance, intensiveElectronic field and high gain. Meanwhile, the radiation pattern and group delayare the other two aspects needed to note in the design procedure according todifferent applications. On the basis of these points, the conical antenna, which isrenowned for its frequency independence, high gain and high power tolerance, wasconsidered to be a competitive candidate for operating as the transmitting terminalof the High-power Ultrawide-band pulse radiating system. However, the traditional conical antenna usually suffers from a largereflection at the extremity for its discontinuous structure. Since the transmittingantenna of this system is often fed with a source generating signals with highpower, the large reflection may cause undesired damage to the other componentsof this system.Consequently, there are four conical antennas with different configurationspromoted in this dissertation for the purpose of improving this drawback. They areall based on the method that replacing the straight line with a polynomial curvewhich can realize the impedance transforming from the air to the antenna as wellas improve the impedance matching between the antenna and the source. Apartfrom these four antennas, the Valentine antenna well known for its high powertolerance is also investigated and analyzed. The obtained results indicate that thisantenna is capable of operating as the transmitting terminal of the High-powerUltrawide-band pulse radiating system. In this dissertation, the High-power Ultrawide-band pulse generator based onTesla transformer is also investigated and explored for a further understanding of the operating principles and design method of the antenna in this system. Thesimulation has already been carried out, the corresponding results within ourexpectation contribute to a deep understanding of the operation of the wholesystem.
