With the globalized development in the manufacturing industry,enterprises all over the world tend to cooperate more and more. Thus, it is aproblem how to realize the conversion of manufacturing industry from aproduction-oriented one to a service-oriented one. In this background, CloudManufacturing emerges. It is a new model of manufacturing based onnetworks, the central idea of which is "Manufacturing is Service". It gathersthe unevenly distributed physical resources all over the world into virtualresources, and quickly serves those in need whenever and wherever possible.A service platform, therefore, is needed to be built up currently, which can beinteroperated by enterprises for a collaborative manufacturing. The serviceplatform of Cloud Manufacturing is characterized by “resources concentrationand services decentralization ", which needs to aggregate physical resourcesinto virtual resources in a process of mapping. Besides, when a large numberof resources aggregated, a good resource selecting method of measuringresource quality is especially important.According to the research background and study purpose mentionedabove, this paper studies the following aspects:1. This paper tries to put forward the description method ofmanufacturing resources based on metadata. The definition and classificationof manufacturing resources are proposed in this paper. And the descriptionmethod based on metadata is proposed according to its advantage. XMLlanguage is also used as a method of definition and analysis of metadata.2. This paper tries to study “physical-virtual” mapping method formanufacturing resource. After describing the manufacturing resource, thispaper moves on to study “physical-virtual” resource mapping method. Fourmapping rules are put forward in the mapping of physical resources intovirtual resources. The purpose is realizing a more comprehensive sharing ofmanufacturing resources, as well as laying a foundation for the convenience of resource selection. The “many-to-many mapping rule” is one of theinnovations of this paper.3. This paper tries to put forward a selecting algorithm based on theability of resource services. The analyses are made on two aspects of businesssystem and manufacturing process. The workflow logs mining technology isused for providing a favorable environment of resource selection. Then, aselecting algorithm based on the ability of resource services is put forward.The experimental analyses are also involved. The selecting algorithm basedon the ability of resource services is another important innovation of thispaper.The ideas and methods of this paper are applied to a service platform forthe manufacturing of “small and medium-sized enterprise” as a practicalresearch. Finally good effects come out, which verifies the effectiveness ofthe methods proposed in this paper.
