In this paper, the TV food programs are analyzed in the context of media ecology. Theimpact of changes in program concept from living services to the enjoyment of food on people’sdiet concept and lifestyle is revealed according to program’s own development and regulation, and this paper points out that the homogeneity overlap of niche media and the responsibilityabsence of food programs on food safety issues have led to low ratings and ecological imbalance. This paper studies on the development status and practical dilemma of food programs from theperspective of media ecology; in order to promote the development of food programs in creativepractice.Firstly, this article explores the discussion on the topic of diet in different media from adiachronic dimension, and presents the rheological characteristics from "focusing on basicsurvival food and clothing" to "spreading food fashion". And then, this article focuses on TVfood programs in the electronic media, expands the overall analysis of media environment ofthese programs, summarizes the media status quo of the external environment of TV foodprograms respectively from three angles which are the "cutback on TV entertainment" extendedprogram space, the economic environment limited program creation and the cultural environmentstimulated program industry chain, and sums up the program’s own law of development byanalyzing the development trend of the internal media environment.Based on the previous discussion, this article then discusses the interaction between foodprograms and social life in depth. On the one hand, the program philosophy "Hunger breedsdiscontentment" is influenced by social life, and the concept of "teaching cooking" has becometo "enjoying life"; on the other hand, the overexpression on food in TV programs resulted inexcessive pursuit of material, blind guidance of satisfying appetites contrary to the basic purposeof healthy living. The article finally analyzes the media advantage of food programs in theinteraction of media environment, indicates that food programs have ignored the mediaresponsibility in food security crisis, leading to some imbalance in the media ecology. Thus, producing high-quality and connotational TV food programs, facing the food safety issues, willhelp to promote the dissemination effect of the programs, and lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
