GMM(Giant Magnetosrictive Material) attracts the scholars’ attentions by its large blocked force,fast respond speed and their high electromechanical coupling coefficient.Based on theGMM,GMA(Giant Magnetostrictive Actuator) are widely used in the fields of aerospace,aviation andprecision machining. Although the GMM has a good performance, their use has been limited due totheir small stroke. The use of amplifier in conjunction with the GMA is an effective way to overcomethis problem.In this paper, a high force, large stroke actuator by the combination of the amplifier and the GMAis deep analyzed and researched by combining theory analysis, computer simulation, optimumstructural design and experimental study together and amuti-nozzle flapper valve based on theactuator with amplifier was simulated to prove to be feasible. The basic structural parameters of theGMA with hydraulic micro-displacement amplifying mechanism were described in detail and thephysical model of it has been built and simulated by Simlink to get the influences of involvedstructural parameters on the output displacement. Meanwhile, another type of amplified GMA–GMAwith flexural frame amplifier was proposed. The model of geometry deformation and two-portnetwork model of the flexural frame amplifier based on geometry deformation has been presented. Weanalyzed the different geometry of flexural frame amplifier by finite element numerical computationthrough Workbench. The finite element analysis verified the effective of the two-port network modeland got the different structural parameters influenced on the amplification of flexural frame amplifierin detail. The GMA with flexural frame amplifier was designed based on the analysis of flexuralframe amplifier. The simulated model of the GMA with flexural frame amplifier based on the practicalsituation was built and analyzed by AMEsim to get the rule between the structural characters andrespond characters. Furthermore, the different structural parameters are analyzed the influence on thecontrol pressure of the muti-nozzle flapper valve based on the GMA with flexural frame amplifier.Meanwhile, the prototype of GMA with flexural frame amplifier was developed and tested. It is testedthat the flexural frame can amplify the stroke2times in the static situation and the frequencybandwidth can get50Hz.
