The Research Of Automatic Measurement System For The Diameter Of The Twist Drill

At present, the artificial cost has become one of the main factors which restrict the developmentof the enterprise. So to implement automation is the inevitable trend of the development in amanufacturing enterprise. This research will be used by the companies which manufacture twist drills.The final process of producing the twist drill is fine grinding in the centerless grinding machine. Theworker will measure the diameter to check it meets the requirements or not. But most companies arenow using artificial measurement method. This method is inefficient and not complete inspection. Sothe automatic measurement is the necessary.In order to realize the automatic measuring, the research studied the practical problems existingin the centerless grinding. After comparing the current measurement of the diameter and in order tosatisfy the high precision, high efficiency and low cost, we use the grating sensors contacting the twistdrill to do the differential measurement. This research is to design the measuring device and use thePC+data acquisition card to acquire and deal with the data of the grating sensors. So we can makethe automatic measurement system.The article introduces the system from the hardware and software in the main chapters.1. Mechanical parts design: design the structure of the twist drill measurement device,summarize its overall function, analysis the selection of important parts and use Solidworks to drawthe3D model;2. The software and hardware of the measurement parts design: select the right grating sensorand data acquisition card according to the requirement of the system, and complete the program.This topic checks the possibility and correctness of the system solutions through debugging themeasurement system software. And also it lays a solid foundation to the actual realization of theautomatic measurement system. It also provides a feasible scheme for modifying the centerlessgrinding machine.
