In the fiber-optic transmission system, because of the dispersion and thenonlinear Kerr effect of the optical fiber, the transmission rate and capacity ofinformation of the system will be confined seriously. The optical phase conjugator cancompensate the dispersion and the nonlinear Kerr effect of the fiber-optictransmission system effectively. This will make the optical transmission systemdevelop with much high transmission rate, more channels in a single fiber and furtherdistance without relay. In this paper,we use a ridged waveguide of As2S3glass as component of theoptical phase conjugator. We focus on the dispersion and the nonlinear characteristicsof this ridged waveguide. At the same time,we simulate the waveguide in different sizewith COMSOL and print out its curve of dispersion, group velocity dispersion and theeffect mode area which vary with wavelength. Finally,we simulate a3X40Gb/s WDM fiber-optic transmission system whosechannel space is200GHz with OptiSystem. Then we import the OPC consisted ofAs2S3ridged waveguide we designed before into the transmission system withOptiBPM.The results of this simulation proof that the OPC can compensate thedispersion and the nonlinear Kerr effect of the fiber-optic transmission systemeffectively.
