As a common technique, RF simulation technology can verify the guidance function and improvethe guidance efficiency. As a measurement tool of RF simulation technology,the calibration device’smain function is to measure the electrical parameters of the microwave feed network and the locationof the array radiation antenna, its ultimate aim is to improve the targeting accuracy of the RFsimulation technology.At first this paper analyzes the working principle of the calibration device, and proposes a newplan of the calibration device which is different from the past consisting of the superheterodynereceiver and the IF vector network analyzer, using the method of input signal pass from the LNA to IFvector network analyzer without conversion. On this basis, through appropriate selection ofperformance microwave devices, this paper design a calibration receiver based on the new calibrationplan and construct the calibration device which is made up of calibration computer, calibrationreceiver, PIO card and RF vector network analyzer.This paper also discuss the workflow of calibration device’s software system, design theautomated calibration software which can work with RF simulation system.The article also details the calibration methods for RF simulation system by using the calibrationdevice, and analyzes the calibration data. As can be seen from the data, the amplitude and phasecharacteristics of each microwave feed network of the RF simulation system has been basicallyreached agreement after calibration.Finally, target location accuracy of the calibrated RF simulation system has been evaluated bytarget tracking experiment. As can be seen from the experiment data, target location accuracy of theRF simulation system reached0.852mrad, and the RF simulation system can properly simulate thetarget trajectory. This paper also analyzes the errors which affect the target location accuracy, andestablished the mathematical model of the errors. At last, this paper analyzes the causes of errors andthe measures to reduce the errors.
