With the rapid development of the new media, traditional media，especially newspapers,are greatly challenged by the new media, which prospect is also worried. The communitynewspaper was introduced by traditional media from abroad as the breakthrough for survivaland benefit. It has the realistic and foreseeable significance to research the survival anddevelopment of community newspaper.This essay takes urban community newspaper which has risen in recent years intoresearch. Firstly, review the developing status on community newspaper both at home andabroad, answer the basic problem of what is the urban community newspapers. The secondchapter sums up and analyses the historical reasons for origination of urban communitynewspapers, as well as the running and distributive modes of community newspaper.The third chapter questions the feasibility of urban community newspaper in China,pointing out its problems appearing in afterward operating, such as poor adhesive tocommunity, no official journal of domestic Issue, excessive reported range, immatureadvertising management, fierce competitions in journalism, lack of the experience for soundrunning.However, it is normal that urban community newspaper experiences the “growingtrouble” in China as everything does. Therefore, the fourth chapter puts forward six relevantadvices. The last chapter points out that the prospect of the development of urban communitynewspaper is more optimistic in China, illustrating that China exists the large survival anddevelopment space for community newspaper, for the snake of acceleration of urbanization,the increase of urban population, the obvious trend of different content for news report andprecise positioning of media market and the early stage of urban community newspaperpractice.
