Standing (stake) exercise, a kind of regimen, has a long history. Nobody knows clearly its origin because of the lack of recordation, but it is generally believed that it originates from ancient religious ritual and is an important constituent of the martial art of China. Standing exercise is standing like a stake, which is shaped from the experiences accumulated by our ancestors in the course of their struggling with diseases, vipers and beasts. For thousands of years, a good many literators and warriors have been employed this regimen to cultivate themselves both physically and spiritually. In ancient, it was called "standing alone", that is, one is standing like a stake with both arms encircled in front of breast and the feet apart, and remains still. Afterwards, one keeps on observing various feelings (such as sour, numb, swell up and painful), changes inside the body and reactions of circulation intercourse. Whether the ancients’"standing alone" or modern standing exercise is an advanced skill of preserving one’s health. It seems simple and boring, but convenient and effective.This study mainly uses testing, coupled with document research, expert interview, and mathematical statistics. This paper has experimented with 50 students in Langfang Teachers College, who have trained to do standing exercise. Comparing their physical conditions before standing with those of after standing, the paper discusses whether the standing exercise can improve student physique effectively Physical test study adopts constitution test instruments. According to University Student Physical Health Standards, height, weight, vital capacity, standing long jump, step test, grip strength (for boys) and situp (for girls) are chosen to meet this end.And the results are as follows:1. Standing exercise can improve the functions of heart and lung,male increases 3.46%; females increases 3.76%;2. Standing exercise can raise the performance of standing long jump,male increases 2.58%; females increases 3.48%;3. Standing exercise can enhance the stamina of abdominal muscle,increases11.35%;4. Standing exercise has of male student standing less health,1.47%.5.Standing exercise can improve the capacity of lung,based on the frequency of breath,before exercises the numbers drops 8 per min,the recovery time drops 2 minutes.6. Standing exercise can improve the function of heart,based on the experimental steps index,male increases 10.08;females increases 8.13;when reaches the max Physical activity the heart rates drops 8 per minutes,when in static the heart rates drops 2 per minutes,the results differs a lot.
