Along with the changing social classes, the research of the social stratum division in China has become a hot issue of common concern to sociology. At the same time with the implementation of the nationwide body-building plan, sports fitness more and more get the attention of the society from all walks of life. As a behavior way of individual exists in society, Sports fitness study became a necessity combined with the social structure and social class.By stratified sampling method, this research select 1029 resident’s fitness behavior in 4 Shanghai districts as the research object. This research uses the document literature method, interview method, questionnaire survey method, and mathematical statistics method. Firstly we divide social class of 1029 people according to Professor Li Qiang’s Socioeconomic Score. Secondly we analyze the f the behavior of physical exercise status of different classes’ residents in Shanghai from different aspects. Understanding the physical exercise behavior status and problems of different classes, not only can be guidance for related departments provide service to different classed residents’ physical exercise, but also can promote more and more people take part in the sports fitness, so as to push forward the implementation of the nationwide body-building plan. The research results showed that:I) Regarding the purpose of fitness, the lower level people are the simplest they participate in gym just to keep fit and prevent diseases. Beside keeping fit, the rest levels of residents participating in fitness have some other purposes. The middle and lower level people participating in fitnes to increase more opportunities for interpersonal communication. The middle and upper residents to participate in fitness mainly want to build theirs body, lose weight and keep fit. Top level residents to participate in fitness are mainly in order to alleviate the pressure of work and improve their mental outlook.II) Walking and jogging is the most popular choice for most of the Shanghai residents. Besides, swimming is the most popular fitness project for top level residents; badminton is the best choice for upper middle upper level residents; middle level residents prefer gyms. The middle lower level like badminton; the lower level residents prefer gyms; while table tennis is the favorite of the most lower level residents.III) Regarding exercise time, there is not much choice for each level. Later in the evening(17:00-21:00) is the only option for most people. Fitness sites are mainly at: charged type gymnasium, company or community sports facilities, community venues or square and the free stadium at school. People participate in fitness with friends, family or alone. The top level residents are mostly alone when go to gym, the upper, middle, middle, lower and lower level residents are temp to do fitness exercise with friends. The bottom level residents mainly do exercise with family.IV) Other than no subjective factors can affect bottom level residents’participation in fitness, interest and lazy are the key factor that affect the fitness participating for rest level residents. Losing interest is the main issues prevent bottom level residents’ exercise, while lazy is the main issues prevent the rest levels of the resident do fitness. Regarding objective factors, nothing can affect bottom level residents being participate in fitness, while plentiful time is the main objective factors that affect all levels of residents to participate in fitness. Busy is the main objective factors that affect top, the upper, and middle and bottom levels residents to participate in the exercise. Housework is the main objective factors that affecting the middle and lower residents participating in the fitness.
