“Building excellent traditional cultural heritage system and promoting Chinese traditional culture” is the strategic objectives of the cultural construction proposed by the 18 th national congress of CPC. Chinese traditional sports culture is part of the cultural construction, and is charged with the task of traditional cultural heritage. Confucianism is the mainstream of traditional Chinese culture ideology, has a profound influence on various aspects of traditional Chinese culture, and the attitude that it is positive for the real world and controls life affects all areas. Confucian health thought is refraction of the basic doctrine, has a negligible impact on Chinese traditional sports health theories and methods, forms unique Chinese traditional sports culture and has a profound impact on modern sports regimen.On the basis of previous research results, this study uses a literature analysis, logical analysis, comparative analysis and logical reasoning from such basic Confucian health ideologies as “health” and“promising” and historical background and the philosophical foundation, to find that Confucian health thought implies a strong sense of life. It starts from a realistic view of life, pays attention to the social value of life, pays attention to the relationship between man and man, man and society, man and nature, and conducts health from the background of the social order and human ethics and morality. It takes “advocating kind, filial piety and etiquette" as the spiritual foundation of sports regimen. Combining regimen concept of scientific physical exercise, Confucian ideas on health have important implications for development of Chinese modern sports health and have a positive role in promoting modern sports regimen.
