With the rapid development of society, university students face up with series of problems and pressure when they pursue higher education, find jobs, fall in love and get married. At this special phase of life, their physical and psychological health are easily influenced by the outside world. Facing those conflicts and choices, university students may adopt suicide, vicious hurting behaviors and other extreme behaviors to solve those problems. Positive Psychology places its core on the development and cultivation of people’s positive force, thus, it provides theoretical foundation and valuable experiences for university students’ psychological health education in China. The perspective of Positive Psychology not only attaches great importance to the negative and distorted psychological phenomena of students, but also to the positive psychological trait and value orientation of university students. It emphasizes guiding the students to nurture a positive value of life, therefore, it has great significance to the prevention and interference of university students’ suicide and vicious hurting behaviors, and to the advancement of life education curriculum and psychological health education of higher learning.The author utilizes the research methodology combining questionnaire survey and individual interview. Under the perspective of Positive Psychology, the author applies the research instruments, for instance, the scale of university students value of life, scale of Oxford happiness questionnaire and Scale of Suicide Ideation, etc, to conduct the questionnaire survey covering 657 university students in areas of Shanghai, Nanning, Guilin, etc. The author aims at discussing the relation between university students’ life of value and their suicide ideation and finally the author establishes the structural equation modeling. Meanwhile, the author conducts individual interviews with three interviewees in the study, encodes and analyzes the interview files based on the grounded theory approach. The author utilizes the method of narration to observe individual’s subjective memory, and also concrete and vivid experiences. Based on the survey and interview, conclusions of this thesis are as follows;1. There is a huge difference in university students’ value of life in first-tier cities and second-tier cities in terms of the demographic variables.2. The thesis points out that university students’ suicide ideation in first-tier cities and second-tier cities does not differ greatly in demography variable.3. lit is a valuable discussion topic to study the negative correlation between the positive value dimension, subjective well-being, life satisfaction, positive emotions and suicide ideation.4. The paper discovers the positive correlation between negative value dimension, negative emotions and suicide ideation.5. Subjective well-being and negative emotions have an significant intermediation between negative value dimension and suicide ideation.
