Since the reform and opening policy, private higher education institutionshave achieved a great success and become an important part of Chinese highereducation. However,private higher education institutions are customer-supporting higher education institutions with the self–financing, assuming soleresponsibility for its profits or losses and dependent running features. They adoptcompletely different approach from public universities as to development andoperation mode.This determines the higher risks in the process of running privatehigher education institutions. So does East University of Heilongjiang. Therefore,it is particularly important and valuable to study the running-risk of the privatecollege and find the solutions from the perspective of running-risk.Firstly, The thesis makes analysis on the present situation of thedevelopment of private universities, pointing out that the private highereducation institutions in China has market-oriented, various and unbalancedcharacteristics and describes the plight and challenges of China’s private colleges.Through in-depth analysis, the thesis points out external factors that limit thedevelopment of private universities: incomplete national policies and regulations,incomplete and imperfect system of management, social prejudice anddiscrimination. Internal factors are the unscientificness of educational philosophy,vagueness of running characteristics, imperfect of internal management, limitedfinancing and unclear property rights system.SWOT analysis is used in the analysis of threats, weaknesses, opportunitiesand strengths in East University of Heilongjiang, pointing out that there are sixmajor risks: market risks, positioning risks, educational quality risks,decision-making risks, financial risks, policy risks. These risks are intertwinedand interact with each other, but if we control them in a timely manner, theschool can prevent and reduce the risk; otherwise, the will seriously affect thesurvival and development of East University of Heilongjiang.Facing the six risks, the author proposes corresponding solutions: toestablish a risk awareness and to strengthen risk prevention awareness, toestablish and improve risk warning mechanism; to adhere to scientific development, and to implement the characteristics of school strategy, to preventrisks in education; to enhance teaching management, and to enhance the qualityof teachers, to prevent risks of teaching quality; to improve the financialmanagement system, to broaden the financing channels, to prevent financialrisks;to improve the corporate governance structure, to establish a soundmanagement system, to prevent the risks of decision-making; to innovatebusiness awareness and improve core competitiveness against market risks.The proposed measures to prevent risks can solve problems in of EastUniversity of Heilongjiang, and they are of great practical signific ance. It canprovide refereces for other private universities in risk avoidance.
