With the development of the society, we pay more and more attention to the dominantposition of students in education. In the university, students are encouraged to takeparticipate in more and more aspects of the school management. The teachers’ teachingevaluation is the most prominent area. The Students Evaluation of Teaching wasoriginated in the United States in the1920s, rising of some colleges and universities inChina in the early1980s.Now it has developed a basic job in teaching evaluation.However, compared with the United States, there are some aspects for improvement inChina’s Students Evaluation of Teaching work. For this, the United States has a lot of goodexperience that we can learn.In this paper,I selected the United States as a reference object, because it is the mostperfect country in the Students Evaluation of Teaching work.I used literature method,comparison analysis method, questionnaire investigation method and other methods tomake a review of the two countries’ history and current situation of The StudentsEvaluation of Teaching.At the same time I made a comparative analysis of evaluationindex system for the two countries. Innovation of this paper is recognition survey forindex of the Students Evaluation of Teaching, trying to avoid integrate these factors toindexes system randomly. At the same time, according to the results of the survey analysis,I try to find out strategies to resolve the existing problem of The Students Evaluation ofTeaching’ index system.In this paper, the significance in the practice is that it helps optimize the teachingprocess, conform to the requirements of quality education, and learn the successfulexperience of the United States to improve our teaching evaluation index. Theoreticalsignificance lies in the concept of trying to find the theoretical difference behind indexsystem between the US and China.Through the investigation, we can set the index systemby the selective absorption of American educational philosophy behind the teachingevaluation and enrich the theory of teaching evaluation index design.
