Research On The Educational Functions Of The Campus Culture In Universities

In August,2004, the Chinese Communist Party and State Department have pointedout clearly that we should build the campus culture what reflects the characteristics ofsocialism, the characteristics of age and the characteristics of universities, and thatcontributes to the formation of university spirit, teaching style and learning style. Soonthereafter, The Ministry of Education and The Central Committee of The CommunistYoung League also issued relevant documents, which aimed at emphasizing that tostrengthen the construction of campus culture has a vital significance in promoting thereform and development of higher education, in strengthening ideological and politicaleducation, in improving students’ comprehensive qualities. Therefore, to strengthen theconstruction of campus culture and that educational function, is not only the need ofcultivating high-quality innovative talents in universities, but also of realizing the greatrejuvenation of the Chinese nation by encouraging students to dare to take part in socialpractice by themselves.This paper adheres to take the system of socialist core values as guidance and studythe educational function of campus culture deeply, by combining theory with practice andusing the qualitative analysis method. The article consists of three parts.The first part is on the basic definition of the campus culture. It mainly discusses theconnotation, composition and characteristics of campus culture firstly. And then, itanalyzes the contents and characteristic of the educational function of campus culture,and emphasizes “education” what is the core of the functions. This section is provides atheoretical basis for later research.The second part analyzes the manifestations and reasons on the weakeningeducational functions of the campus culture. This firstly discusses the weakeningperformances of the functions. And then, the part analyzes the specific reasons whatcauses the functions to weaken.The third part discusses the ways of playing the educational functions of the campusculture. This is also the focus of the full text. It synthetically discusses how to strengthenthe functions of the campus culture, from many aspects, in order to achieve the goal ofuniversities talent cultivation and promote the healthy development of universities, including beautifying the environment of campus material culture, cultivating theuniversity spirit, strengthening the educational function of campus system culture,guiding and regulating the behavior of college students, etc.In a word, the paper focuses on the research of the campus culture and itseducational function, which can both enrich the theoretical basis of related research andput forward methods to strengthen the educational function of the campus culture, andprovides some reference for promoting the healthy development of the campus culture.
