The Cultivation Of College Students’ Healthy Social Mentality

Social mentality is a "barometer" of the social development process, which reflects social atmosphere and shows the ideal pursuit and spiritual state of people. Report to the Eighteenth National Congress of the CPC emphasizes that we should "cultivate self-respect, self-confidence, a sense of being rational, composed and aspirant." It shows that our party and government give their utmost attention to social mentality. College students are not only the future leaders and builders of our society, but also the force propelling social development and reform. College students’social mentality can influence not only their own growth and development, but also our society’s harmony and stability. Therefore, it is very essential to study on college students’social mentality. This paper based on the study of both domestic and oversea reference documents, by taking the data collected from students in six typical colleges of Tianjin as example, and according to the theory of Marxism philosophy, gives an analysis of current college students’social mentality present situation, including the positive and negative aspects; and the causes of negative social mentality. Besides, it proposes the methods about the cultivation of current college students’healthy social mentality from the perspectives of both colleges education and also the working and mechanical system.
