This report is based on the Chinese-English translation practice of the thesis“Structure Design and Motion Mode Analysis of a Six Wheel-legged Robot”. The author discusses three methods in this translation: 1) how to establish the relevant knowledge base by sufficient preparation before the translation, 2) how to find the translation difficulties by analyzing the source texts and target texts, and 3) how to enhance the readability by adopting the appropriate translation strategies from the aspects of words, sentence component, and sentence structure.Firstly, the report introduces the background and the purpose of the research.Secondly, it reviews the preparation before the translation. In addition, it analyzes the characteristics of the source text and target text and summarizes the differences between them. Finally, it discusses the relevant translation strategies on the aspects of words, sentence component and sentence structure by combining the translation cases.This report proposes that before the translation of the thesis, the translator must be fully prepared, with relevant glossary of terms, study the thesis in both source language and target language and establish the relevant knowledge base,etc. Besides,it is necessary for the translator to choose appropriate translation strategies for the consideration of the differences between the source text and target text on the aspects of expression and logic.It is expected that this report could provide some examples and reference to the future study on thesis translation.
