This paper makes an analysis on the well-known long volume incised painting, "Scenery of Huancuitang Park", which was created in Wanli age of Ming Dynasty. Starting from the elements in this painting, the three aspects of the painting, namely " image and painting", "belonging of persons", and "techniques and works" are discussed in detail to figure out the abundant content in it. A special analysis is made on the organizer of the incised painting, Wang Tingne, to provide a theoretical basis for the content of this paper, based on his social status as a Huizhou merchant, and Confucian businessman in nature, and his tendency as an intellectual. In terms of specific content of the discussion, this paper will still be closely related to the theme of the work and picture painted by a variety of scenarios, and we should know the owner of the work Wang Tingne and the relationship between thinking and extended; so as to further study his behavior of the underlying cultural expectations and the conversion of urgent needs. The major viewpoints in this paper are as follows. Firstly, " Scenery of Huancuitang Park" is the best for the paintings of the Hui (Anhui Province) sect, with the incomparable elegance, outstanding technique, and excellent description of space. Secondly, the research on the painting should be based on the understanding of "garden culture" and the publishing industry of Huizhou region in the late Ming Dynasty. To some degree, it is just the culture and environment that motivates the creation of such long volume painting. Thirdly, Wang Tingne directed the creation of the painting, whose original intention and objective reveal that political, cultural, economic, and artistic factors are combined to achieve mutual development. Fourthly, in Chinese classical garden culture, this long volume painting expresses a special cultural system, which helps us understand the brilliant achievement in that period, and achieve some beneficial enlightenment from cultural life.Main conclusions in this paper are as follows. Firstly, as a typical one for the paintings of the Hui (Anhui Province) sect, "Scenery of Huancuitang Park" describes an ideal world, in which Wang Tingnei’s spiritual pursuit is implied, embodied by his naming for over one hundred scenic spots. Secondly, the pursuit is mainly focused on the lives, mode of leisure, social status, and cultural influence of intellectuals in the Ming Dynasty. It is closely relevant to the garden-building trend in the late Ming Dynasty, and the spiritual pursuit of intellectuals. Thirdly, Wang Tingnei hopes to enter the circle with a special high level, which is his original intention and objective for the creation of this painting. Fourthly, there are numerous people and sceneries shown in this painting. The participation of famous carve workers in Huizhou and professional painters in Wu County makes it not merely a product of Wang Tingnei’s self-promotion awareness, but a reflection of the excellent technique and typical style in paintings of the Hui (Anhui Province) sect.
