Since the 1970 s and1980s, the studies of postmodernism have aroused wide attention in western academe. From the rise of 1960 s, the opinions about postmodernism have always been the different in various fields. There is no single definition, which make people even more confused. Douglas Kellner, as one of the famous western postmodern theorists, reorganizes numerous and confused postmodern theory. He devotes himself to combine postmodern theory, media culture theory with critical theory together, to develop a reconstruction of social criticism. Its unique multiperspectival critical theory and the diagnostic analysis have important significance to criticize and analysis western postmodernism.This paper has elaborated in detail postmodern philosophical core terms of Douglas Kellner from four aspects. The chapter one mainly introduces the kellner’s lifetime and works and analyzes the cause of terms from the perspective of social background and theoretical background. The chapter two introduced a series of postmodern terms to us with its unique perspective, such as ‘postmodern discourse’, ‘media spectacles’, ‘postmodern feminism’, ‘postie syndrome ‘and so on. The third chapter summarizes the three theoretical characteristics of postmodern philosophical core terms of kellner that is perspectivism, diagnostic critique and anti-aestheticized subjectivism. The chapter four from the limitation, constructive, enlightenment of the three different aspects of this paper to comment briefly on postmodern philosophical core terms of kellner.
