Chinese painting has a long history, which figures, landscapes, flowers and birds paintings become three major areas of China, especially the portraits, with the changing times, aesthetics, performance methods, characters, tricks composition also will change, over the years, people most of the focus on the study of traditional painting, formed a relatively complete theoretical system, which is undoubtedly the cultural tradition played an important role, however, for the study of contemporary Chinese figure painting is still inadequate, from a variety of literary sources, certainly more macroscopic and microscopic criticism, comments and lack of rational induction system, no doubt this is a shortcoming. In this paper, based on contemporary, twelve session of the National Art Exhibition of Chinese Painting for the study, were listed and analyzed by time, geographic, ethnic, and other works of expression attributes to explore Chinese paintings of today’s mainstream support under.The article is divided into three parts, the first part of the overall data content through the display and exhibition of specific works to compare and interpret; the second part focuses on the historical background to produce all kinds of work,regional customs and historical reasons, and many other factors, and typical examples of works done by, by the time to do longitudinal analogy; part III summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the art exhibition "portrait" work, obtained era significance of their work and prospects for the future, designed to clear todaypaintings of the special nature of the development process and common, to find the direction of the art forward.
