Shen Congwen is a famous writer of modern literature. The works of Shen Congwen, 30 in the 20 Chinese to reproduce the numerous life light and life style. He never tired of using their own “yokel” perspective to examine the Xiafangjueyu Xiangxi in the world is Shen Congwen’s unique artistic personality, he has always been based folk standpoint, focus on showing the natural, healthy human nature or form of life, to the construction of human nature of the temple of literature. Since the last century eighty’s, his creation has caused the criticism boundary to study and the attention continuously, and has obtained the plentiful achievement. But the carnival characteristics of the creation of the Shen Congwen is lack of. His works are inseparable from the theme choice, language style, and the inner structure of the text and the life philosophy contained in the text.Therefore, this paper intends to introduce Bakhtin Carnival Poetics Theory, combined with Shen Congwen’s creative practice, explore the manifestation of Carnival Shen Congwen’s works and the important value of modern literature.There are three chapters in this thesis. The first chapter starts from the “second world”of Bakhtin carnival, and combs the carnival scene in Shen Congwen’s novels. We will folklore and aesthetics combined into text research among, summed up the novel roughly ethnic festivals, their ancestors and gods, the harvest labor, love marriage, four kind of Carnival scenes. The carnival scene filled the carnival atmosphere with the carnival, expressing the carnival style of the world and the ideal of the carnival and the spirit of the change, death and the spirit of the new spirit. Folk carnival culture is one of the main sources for Shen Congwen’s culture, folk writing of Shen Congwen, confirmed the free state of existence and the publicity of the free will of life, also reveals the world has the profound duality feature, emphasize the openness of the world and unfinished.In the second chapter, from the aspect of the novel form entry, from decrowning and crowning of the carnival art thinking, Carnival of the figure image, Carnival language style of Shen Congwen’s revelry narrative perspective, fully aware of the carnival phenomenon in Shen Congwen’s works. Decrowning and crowning structure not only constitute the inner structure model of the story, also has profound cultural significance and meaning of the text. To coronation decrowning ritual as the core of the carnival, expressing the carnival world feelings of profound alteration of the spirit, which contains the "pregnant with the birth death and birth to the death of a new birth" folk feel constitute the cornerstone of Shen Congwen’s life philosophy. In the carnival of the characters, Shen Congwen by the artistic technique of downgrade, shaping the fool, a madman, madman, clowns and other characters, showing their grotesque appearance, behavior and psychological, in the carnival language in this section, mainly from three aspects of the vulgar language, a satirical and miscellaneous language talk is the language characteristics, Shen Congwen’s text produced Carnival aesthetic effect.In the third chapter, the carnival spirit of Shen Congwen’s creation is reflected, and the similarities and differences between Carnival phenomenon of Shen Congwen’s works and Bakhtin carnival theory are analyzed.Despite the carnival of the wisdom and the spirit of the penetration of Shen Congwen’s text, full of challenge to authority, repressed, and the essence of the spirit of carnival theory, but Shen Congwen Carnival expression is not exactly the same as in the spirit of the connotation of Western medieval carnival, in form, due to China’s political and religious ideology plays a big role, Carnival activities of the characters in the novel are not completely folk carnival, can not be completely dispel the ruler of the authority, no like the West so cajolery“King”of the content, there is no dispel the mainstream ideology, God, Buddha, Emperor mainly become the object of worship, prayer, faith. In the value standpoint, the feeling of Bakhtin to the world is carnival, while Shen Congwen is hiding deep tragedy consciousness in the surface Carnival Writing.
