In the context of consumerism, most of the TV series tend to adopt the writingtechnique of focusing on narrative and neglecting images" to cater to the market. Thus,regardless of the large quantity, there are very few high-quality works. In view of this,the enrichment of spatial narrative in TV series and expansion of the ideographicfunction of space narrative has become an universal appeal of educational circles andindustry. The "Palace of Desire", however, deviates from the feature of the traditionaldrama of "focusing on narrative and neglecting images" and shows its unique style inspace narrative, thus it has important research value. Therefore, the study of spacenarrative in "Palace of Desire" has important practical significance.Seen from the theoretical angle, any narratives including the films are have twodimensions, namely time and space. But the space dimension in narrative has longbeen ignored in narrative study without enough attention and affirmation. Thus thestudy of space narrative in "Palace of Desire" also has the theoretical significance ofexpanding and filling up the space narrative research.This paper takes the narrative space of "Palace of Desire" as the research object,and it is divided into four chapters. The first chapter, on the one hand, combs theShaohong Li’s personal experiences and its impact on the style of space narrative in"Palace of Desire"; on the other hand, it generalizes the concept of spatial narrative,emphatically analyzes the relationship between narrative space and space narrative,and defines the connotation of spatial narrative. The second chapter and the thirdchapter carry out concrete analysis on the space narrative in "Palace of Desire"according to the definition of spatial narrative connotation in the first chapterrespectively from the two aspects of space narrative: the second chapter mainlydiscusses the content of the space narrative at the first level, namely from scene andthe camera, to discuss the process of space construction in the film and televisionworks at the technical level; the third chapter mainly discusses the content of thespace narrative at the first level from different types of space to analyzes the role andfunction of space as narrative means. The fourth chapter analyzes the aestheticimplication from artistic conception to discuss the aesthetic connotation.
