Ancient Greek and Western Zhou both developed different ode systems becauseof different ethnic,geographical, social structure, social class and other factors. From thepoint of view causes, odes originated in the worship of God and the hope that theancestors are not evil expectations; Judging from the creators, writers of hymns in theGreek were minstrels and the nobility, primarily were nobility in the Western ZhouDynasty; from content point of view, the Greek ode’s purpose is to ask God to come, theWestern Zhou Dynasty’s odes is to seek ancestral blessing; from the perspective of musicand poetry of view, the Greek’s odes heavy poem but light music, Western ZhouDynasty’s odes light music but heavy poetry;from the language form point of view,Greece is the dialogue, Western Zhou is circuitous.Odes was originally a public discourse system, and it have three major functions:endorsements, teachings, passing political power. Due to the myth developed, in additionto the public odes, the Greeks soon developed a form of private hymns, in this process,they discovered and have a private space to achieve private ownership of poetry, both ofwhich are driving odes to lyrical direction.
