Fang Yizhi was a famous thinker in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, had manyachievements in the philosophy, history and other fields, but his life was full of frustrations.Turbulent times background and rich cultural thoughts deeply influenced his philosophicaland historical thoughts. This article includes introduction, Fang Yizhi’s biographical sketchand academic course, his philosophical thoughts, historical thoughts, and the conclusion,five parts in all.The introduction part mainly expatiates the reason for background, the research presentsituation were introduced, and introduces the research in this paper the theoretical point andmain research approach.The first chapter is the basic,it describes Fang’s life, as well as the disturbances in thebackground of the academic thinking in the course of evolution, and focuses on the analysisof its academic origin.The second chapter discusses his philosophy thought.Firstly,it analyzes the process of hisunderstanding of the evolution of the world’s essence,and we can clearly see that theevolution process was affected by his life deeply.Then, it elaborates the content andsignificance of epistemology and methodology in the philosophy system he hadestablished,and has a specific analysis of the connotation of “zhice”and“tongji”.The third chapter has a discussion on Fang Yizhi’s historiography thought. In FangYizhi’s view of history,he thinks that history study is a “to the practical and realisticprinciple” practical learning; history is always in development and change,on one hand,history development is conventional and changeable,on the other hand,history developmentis logical and regular; as the world ruler, one should give full play to his subjective role.Thetwo most prominent features of his historiography,one is the demonstration spirit,headvocated “waiting for evidence to decide”,“expanding the trust and ruling doubts”,“”“”twois the changeable consciousness, he advocated “digging the roots,practicing flexibly”, in themethod,he paid attention to the inference and reduction.The last part is the conclusion,concludes the skeleton of this paper.
