Objective To investigate the crescent and ring lamellar keratoplasty in the treatment of Terrien’s marginal corneal degeneration. Methods 20 patients(22eyes)From June 1997 to march 2007 in our hospital underwent crescent or ring lamellar keratoplasty in the treatment of Terrien’s marginal corneal degeneration patients,A retrospective study, the postoperative graft curvature, pine line, epithelial defects, immune rejection, the recurrence were documented.Follow-up time was 22 months(range,12~40) Results Fourteen patients(63.6%) achieved BSCVA 20/40 or better, the preoperative corneal astigmatism 7.52±3.09(range,2.63~13.85)D,1 year postoperatively 3.81±2.43 (range,0.87~11.02)D,corneal astigmatism reduced 3.70±2.33D,(t=7.465,P=0.000); the biggest difference of corneal curvature axial between before and after surgery was 3.65±16.69°(range,0~38°),(t=0.698,P=0.493);10 patients(45.45%) occurred graft-line loosing on 89.63±59.13 days;4 patients(18.18%) occurrced corneal epithelial defect, epithelium healing on 27.75±13.05 days after symptomatic treatment;1 patient (4.45%) occurred corneal layerimplantable cyst;without rejection and recurrence. Conclusion crescent or ring lamellar keratoplasty for the treatment of Terrien’s marginal corneal degeneration can be effective in preventing corneal perforation and reducing comeal astigmatism; No postoperative immune rejection response and follow-up without relapse;under correction of astigmatism,graft-line loosing and the postoperative corneal epithelial defect were the major complications.
