| PART 1CINE MRI EVALUATION OF UTERINE PERISTALSIS INPATIENTS WITH UTERINE FIBROIDSObjective :To investigate the abnormal peristalsis and its relevant factors of patients with uterine fibroids by cine MRI.Methods:Totally 60 patients with uterine fibroids and 30 healthy volunteers in periovulatory phase underwent conventional T1, T2 axia, T2 sagittal and cine MRI. Physician A, B indepedently double-blind evaluated the images, including the existence, direction and frequency of normal peristalsis. Physician B recorded uterine volume, the largest fibroid volume, location and number of fibroids. The existent rate and frequency of nomal peristalsis between patients with uterine fibroids and healthy volunteers were compared and uterine average volume, the largest fibroidsaverage volume and characteristics of fibroids between patients with and without normal perstalsis were compared.Result:The existent rate and frequency of normal perstalsis significantly decreased in patients with fibroids compared with healthy volunteers(P<0.05), uterine and the largest fibroids average volume in patients with normal peristalsis were lower than that of patients without peristalsis, the former has statistically significance(P=0.043, 0.129). The locations of fibroids between patients with and patients without normal peristalsis was significant difference(P=0.001).Conclusion: Nomal peristalsis of patients with fibroids significantly decreases in periovulatory phase, which is not conducive to the rapid transport of sperm to the fallopian tubes, and it may be one of the reason for infertility. Abnormal uterine peristalsis in patients with fibroids may be related to the enlarged uterine volume caused by fibroids and the locations of fibroids.PART 2A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF UTERINEPERISTALSIS BEFORE AND AFTERHIGH-INTENSIFY FOCUSED ULTRASOUND TREATMENT OF UTERINE FIBROIDS BY CINE MRIObjective: To investigate the difference of uterine peristalsis before and after high-intensify focused ultrasound(HIFU) treatment of uterine fibroids by cine MRI.Methods: 30 patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids before and after HIFU treatment underwent pelvic T1 axia, T2-stir axia, T2 sagittal and cine MRI in the periovulatory phase. Two physicians independently double-blind evaluated the images for the existence of uterine peristalsis, direction and frequency. The existent rate, direction and frequency of uterine peristalsis before and after HIFU treatment of uterine fibroids were compared, respectively. Results: The existent rate and frequency of uterine peristalsis significantly increased after HIFU treatment for both physicians(P<0.05).The main direction of uterine peristalsis before and after HIFU were both cervix-to-fundus.Conclusion: HIFU treatment may be helpful to the recovery of uterine peristalsis in patients of symptomatic fibroids, and cine MRI mayshow recovery of uterine peristalsis after successful HIFU treatment. |
