Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody(ANCA)-associated vasculitides(AAV) are a group of pauci-immune small vessel vasculitides that are characterized by inflammation and necrosis of blood vessel walls. AAV is one of the most common autoimmune disease in the world, and AAV can affect different blood vessels in the body leading to the damage of critical organs such as the kidneys, lungs, heart, skin, etc. So clinicians in different departments all widely concerned about it. Although the exact pathogenesis of AAV is not clear, many data from in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies support the involvement of environmental factors, Genetic factors, infectious factors, ANCA, the alternative pathway of complement, B and T-regulatory cells in the pathogenesis of AAV. In the recent years, There are many new insights in the pathogenesis of AAV, and these insights made more targeted therapeutic approach possible. This review is just right to tell you the advances of the pathogenesis and treatment of AAV, and make the clinicians know more about it.
