Objective: This paper aims to investigate the effect of anti-infection treatment on the expression of MMP9 and VEGF in the inflammatory tissue of VX-2 squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue in rabbits. Methods: VX-2 tumor masses were removed from the rear thigh of tumor-bearing rabbits to implant in the tongue of experimental rabbits so as establish build models of rabbit tongue squamous cell carcinoma.Local inflammatory microenvironment was created by trauma and high-sugar milk drinking. The experimental animals were divided into 3 groups at random: A group(pure tumor), tumor without inflammation and treatment; B group(tumor+inflammation), without the use of any drug after the inflammation was created in the region of tumor; C group(tumor+inflammation+antibiotics), treated with antibiotics(procaine benzylpenicillin and tinidazole). On the 20 th day of experiment, the animals of C group were sacrificed after 3 days of successive administration. A group and B group didn’t give medicine treatment, and the animals were sacrificed on the same day.The tongue tumor tissues in all groups were equally divided into two parts. One part was used to observe the morphological characteristics by HE staining, and the expression of MMP9 and VEGF by immunohistochemistry; The other part was used to observe the expression of MMP9 and VEGF mRNA by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Results: ① The inflammatory model of VX-2 squamous cell carcinoma was successfully established.②Pathological changes of VX-2 squamous cell carcinoma in each group: the amount of inflammatory cell infiltration in squamous cell carcinoma is: A group<C group<B group;③The expression of MMP9 and VEGF is accordance in tumor tissue, and the concrete value is: A group,C group<B group(p<0.01);④The expression of the MMP9 and VEGF mRNA is accordance in tumor tissue, and the concrete value is: A group,C group<B group(p<0.05). Conclusion: ①Local infectious inflammation can promote the expression of MMP9 and VEGF in the inflammatory tissue of VX-2 squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue in rabbits.②Anti-infection treatment could obviously inhibit the expression of MMP9 and VEGF in the inflammatory tissue of VX-2 squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue in rabbits.③Local infectious inflammation may be involved in promoting oral squamous cell carcinomas further deterioration, anti-infection treatment could inhibit the further development and malignant transformation of oral squamous cell carcinomas;in the clinical work, the prevention of oral cancer patients with preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative infection should be strengthen.
