| OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical effects of Hot-Needle stimulation at QIZHONGSIBIAN(Ex-CA02) on the recovery of gastrointestinal function after abdominal surgery. T-o provide a new method to treat this disease.METHODS In accordance with the random number table, 88 patients who received ab-dominal surgery were randomly divided into two groups: The Hot-Needle group and t-he acupuncture group. Each group has 44 cases. The Hot-Needle group received HotNeedle stimulation at QIZHONGSIBIAN(Ex-CA02) and the acupuncture group received traditional acupuncture at ZHONGWAN(RN12) and both sides at TIANSHU(ST25) NEIGUAN(PC06) ZUSANLI(ST36). The treatment was taken for 30 minutes during 8-9 a.m. and 4-5 p.m. everyday from the first postoperative day. We stopped treatment w-hen the patients got the first time to flatus or stool after surgery or at the end of the third day postoperatively. During the treatment, to observe and collect general information of each patient, such as frequency of the bowel sounds before and after each t-ime of treatment, the first time to get postoperative flatus and stool, the level of post-operative abdominal distension and nausea or vomiting, and to evaluate the symptoms scores.RESULTS There was no difference between two groups on the general information of the patient(P>0.05). Both before and after treatment, there is no difference between two groups on the postoperative nausea and vomiting(P>0.05). Before the treatment, t-here is no difference between two groups on the postoperative abdominal distension(P>0.05), after treatment the Hot-Needle group patients’ postoperative abdominal distensi-on is lesser than the acupuncture group(P<0.05). There are no differences between two groups on the frequency of the bowel sounds except the fourth time after treatment. As for the first time to get postoperative flatus and stool, the Hot-Needle group sh-owed much shorter than the acupuncture group(P<0.05). There are also have no differences between two groups on the symptoms scores before treatment(P>0.05), after t-reatment the Hot-Needle group showed lower symptoms scores(3.18±1.78) than the ac-upuncture group(3.95±1.85)(P<0.05). The therapeutic index on Hot-Needle group als-o showed better than the acupuncture group.CONCLUSION Result shows Hot-Needle stimulation at QIZHONGSIBIAN(Ex-CA02) c-an promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function after abdominal surgery. It also c-an lighten the patients postoperative abdominal distension, shorten the time of the firs-t time to get postoperative flatus and stool. |
