Objective:By observing the change of the indicators of the red blood cell volume distribution width(RDW) and molecular markers of breast cancer that include estrogen receptor(ER), progesterone receptor(PR) and Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2(HER-2),to investigate the relationship between RDW, ER, PR, HER-2 and the degree of breast cancer and its clinical significance. Methods:Female patients diagnosed with breast cancer in First Hospital of Lanzhou University between January 2011 and July 2015 were retrospectively studied. The diagnosis of breast cancer was made pathologically with core needle biopsy or surgically resected specimen. The following data were recorded on each patient with breast cancer: the general clinical data, red blood cell parameters, biochemical indexes and molecular markers of breast cancer results. The healthy individuals represented the control cohort. All statistical analyses were conducted with the SPSS21.0 software package. The red blood cell parameters and biochemical indexes were compared between the healthy control group and breast cancer patients group, also among its subgroups, the correlation of molecular markers of breast cancer among each subgroup were observed, and the factors influencing axillary lymph node in breast cancer metastasis were analyzed by the logistic regression analysis.Results:1. This study selected 87 cases of female patients with breast cancer. According to WHO classification of tumours of the breast: there were 76 cases with infiltrating ductal carcinoma, 8cases with invasive lobular carcinoma, 3 cases mucinous carcinoma, respectively, 87.36%, 9.20%,3.45% of the total number of cases. According to AJCC cancer staging manual: there were 48 cases with â… ~â…¡stage, 33 cases with â…¢ stage, 6 cases with â…£ stage, respectively, 55.17%,37.93%, 6.90% of the total number of cases. According to the axillary lymph node metastasis ornot, there were 36 cases with axillary lymph node metastases, 51 cases without axillary lymph node metastasis, respectively, 41.38%, 58.62% of the total number of cases.2. Compared with the control group, the level of Hb and Alb in breast cancer group obviously lower, MCV, RDW and LDL significantly increased. Compared with without axillary lymph node metastasis group, Hb with axillary lymph node metastasis group obviously decreased, and its MCV and RDW increased significantly. RDW in â…¢ and â…£stage were higher obviously than that of â… ~â…¡stage, and also RDW in â…£ stage was higher significantly than that of â…¢stage.3. The rate of HER-2 positive expression was significantly associated with axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer(P<0.05). With respect to the negative expression of HER-2protein, RDW were significantly higher in cases of HER-2 positive expression. RDW with axillary lymph node metastasis group in HER-2 positive expression of breast cancer were obviously higher than that of without ones.4. Hb and MCV were protective factors to axillary lymph node metastasis, and RDW and HER-2 were risk factors, besides, with the increasing value of RDW, the probability of with axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer was 1.255 times than that of without ones, the likelihood of with axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer patients with HER-2 positive expression was 2.094 times as much as the negative ones.Conclusions:1. The infiltrating ductal carcinoma, also known asinvasive carcinoma of no special type, was the most common type of breast cancer.2. Elevated RDW could be one of predictor for the prognosis of breast cancer.3. Combined analysis of RDW and HER-2 could be used as evaluation indicator of axillary lymph node metastasis of breast cancer.4. RDW and HER-2 would be the independent prognostic factor in patients with axillary lymph node metastasis of breast cancer.
