Objective: To study the correlation between heart failure induced by COPD and RDW.Methods: Take COPD patients in the Elder Department of Affiliated Hospital of University in October 2014 to October 2015 as the research object,collecting the patient’s general information, the main laboratory examination and auxiliary examination.(1) According to the Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure in China[1], patients are divided into COPD group and heart failure caused by COPD group by having clear heart failure clinical symptoms, and BNP>100pg/ml, according with which in the heart failure caused by COPD group and the other in the COPD group, then do independent samples t test;(2)According to the degree of pulmonary artery pressure, patients are divided into A group(≤25mm Hg), B group(26-35 mm Hg), C group(36-45 mm Hg)and D group(>45mm Hg), and then do the single factor analysis of variance,(3)Patients are divided into normal group(RDW≤14.5%) and higher RDW group(>14.5%),and do the independent samples t test;(4) Correlation analysis between RDW and other factors in patients with COPD.Results:(1)Between COPD group and heart failure caused by COPD group,age,BNP, N%, L%, CRP, pulmonary artery pressure, pulmonary artery pressure, right ventricular anteroposterior diameter, and LVEF exist significant differences(P<0.05);(2)Between the four groups the age, RDW, right ventricular anteroposterior diameter and right ventricular Left-right diameter all exist significantly different(P<0.05);(3)Between the normal RDW group and higher RDW group,N%,CRP, right ventricular outflow tract, right ventricular anteroposterior diameter and right ventricular Left-right diameter main pulmonary artery diameter and pulmonary artery pressure have significant difference(P<0.05);(4)In Pearson correlation analysis: RDW and age, BNP, N%, RBC, CRP, right ventricular diameter, diameter of the main pulmonary artery, pulmonary artery pressure and right ventricular outflow tract are positively correlated(P<0.05).Conclusion: There are positive correlation between RDW and age, markers ofinflammation(CRP, N%), pulmonary artery pressure, right ventricular structure parameters, and BNP. So higher RDW could be taken as a reference evaluation index in patients with heart failure and pulmonary artery hypertension caused by COPD, and it is easily influenced by age and inflammation factors.
