Effect Of Conjunctival Sac Disinfection With Different Concentrations Of Povidone-iodine On Ocular Surface Of Patienents

Objective To study the effects of different concentrations of povidone iodine disinfection of conjunctival sac on postoperative patients with ocular surface.Method part 1:40 people(40 eyes) were selected in the department of Ophthalmology in the second affiliated hospital of chongqing medical university for cataract surgery in 2014.12.In the operation, 1%(20 eyes)and 0.5%(20 eyes) of PI were used to wash the conjunctival sac,then take the sample of conjunctival sac for bacterial culture.Part 2:30 people(30 eyes) were selected in the department for cataract surgery from 2015.01 to 2015.05.In the operation, 1%(15 eyes) and 0.5%(15 eyes) of PI were used to wash the conjunctival sac.all patients underwent BUT, Schirmer test and the conjunctive impression cytology the day before operation and 7 days,1 month,3months after operation.To observe the changes before and after the operation.All of the patients in the preoperative and postoperative follow-up whether any ocular discomfort.Results part1:All the samples were not found the growth of bacteria for 5 days continuous culture, all patients without ocular infectious inflammation.part2:1.There was no significant change in BUT and Schirmer in the two groups after operation(P>0.05).2.At 7 days after operation, the density of conjunctival sac cells was significantly decreased in the two groups, and gradually recovered 1 month after operation, and recovered to the preoperative level 3 months after operation. The density change of conjunctival cells in the 1%PI group was significantly higher than that in the 0.5%PI group after 7 days and 1 month after operation(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in 3 months after operation(P> 0.05).3.6 people of 1% PI group and 2 people of 0.5% PI group appeared ocular discomfort after operation.Conclusion Both 0.5%PI and 1% PI can cause changes in the number and morphology of conjunctival cells, and lead to ocular discomfort in some of the patients.But 0.5% PI on conjunctival epithelial injury is relatively smaller, patients with ocular discomfort after operation is relatively less.0.5%PI can be recommended for the operation of conjunctival sac disinfection.
