Objective: This study used con-beam computed tomography(CBCT) to investigate the canine teeth alveolar bone loss and density reduction in healthy people reside in Lanzhou, China.Material and methods: The study group comprised 200 healthy individuals aged over 24 years residing in China. CBCT and the analysis software were used to examine the level and location of alveolar bone loss and density. Results: The study revealed that canine teeth alveolar bone loss of healthy people is associated with aging. Sex was related to the distal bone loss(p<0.05). There was a lower degree of alveolar bone loss in males than females in 45-59 age group. A comparison of bone loss in different jaws revealed that tooth position has obvious significance with the buccal and lingual bone loss(p<0.05).Conclusions: The study revealed that canine teeth alveolar bone loss and density reduction of healthy people is associated with aging. And tooth position, sex appeared to be contributing factors to alveolar bone loss. |
