| Purpose:To observe the progression of early AMD, intermediate AMD and advanced non-neovascular AMD and to evaluate the the intervention effect of liuwei dihuang soft capsule on this disease through the change of best corrected visual acuity, area of drusen, volume of drusen and area of atrophy Approaching the the value of Adavanced RPE Analysis on the observation in progress of early AMD,intermediate AMD and advanced non-neovascular AMD, and on the intervention effects evaluation of medicine.Methods:To check up OCT advanced RPE analysis for the patients, which includes in standard, records the area and volume of drusen, and area of atrophy. The best-corrected visual acuity and fundus photography are required in the same time. Reviewing once every three months and comparing the anterior-posterior results in order to observe the process of early AMD, intermediate AMD and advanced non-neovascular AMD. All of the patients were divided into interventional group A and interventional group B randomly. Interventional group A was given Liuweidihuang Soft Capsule combined with Esculin and Digitalis Glycosides Eye Drops, but the intervention group B was simply given Esculin and Digitalis Glycosides Eye Drops. With the same resulted index introduced above to evaluate interventional effects in both groups and then compare with traditional inspection methods such as fundus photography, to approach the value of Adavanced RPE Analysis on the observation in process of early AMD, intermediate AMD and advanced non-neovascular AMD, also measure the value on the interventional effects of medicine.Results:(1) OCT Advanced RPE Analysis is superior to traditional inspective methods such as fundus camera in sensitivity, accuracy, repeatability, observable index numbers and indicators of quantitative analysis etc.. (2) Two groups of patients with visual acuity improved after intervention (p< 0.05), but there is no significant statistical difference on effects between the two groups. The area and volume of drusen and area of atrophy are in a growing trend in the progress of AMD. The area of drusen after intervention is in a shrinking trend in Group A, but there is no major statistical difference on the changing of tendency. the area of drusen still showed a trend of expansion in intervention group B. Neither Group A nor Group B gained a satisfied curative effect in reducing the area of drusen. In terms of reducing the volume of drusen, Group A gained an effective intervention after six-month treated (p< 0.05), but Group B had not obtained a certain effect. There was no significant statistical difference between the two groups. Both of the two groups obtained no obvious effect in reducing the area of atrophy.Conclusion:Conclusion:(1) OCT Advanced RPE Analysis function has more obvious advantages than traditional examinational method on observing in progress of early AMD, intermediate AMD and advanced non-neovascular AMD, and on the evaluation of medical interventional effect. (2) The progress of early AMD, intermediate AMD and advanced non-neovascular AMD develops slowly, it is difficult to accurately present the slow process of development which is limited by the insufficient objective of traditional checking method. However, OCT Advanced RPE Analysis has solved the problem. (3) It showed that in the aspects of enhancing visual activity and reducing the volume of focus showed obvious effects via combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine. Moreover, it is superior to pure western medicine intervention. But both of two interventions gained no obvious effects in other aspects, and there was no significant difference in interventional effects between the two groups’results. |
