Objective:To evaluate the risk factors of the occurrence of post-operative hematoma after intracranial meningiomas removal and reduce the occurrence of post-operative hematoma. Methods:Three hundred and sixty-six patients with intracranial meningiomas operated between September 1st 2014 and September 1st 2015 in the second affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University, School of medicine, were enrolled in our study.Variables analyzed included patients’ age, sex, body mass index, hypertension and diabetes, smoking and drinking history, operation time, blood loss, tumor size, tumor site, pathological pattern.Univariate chi-square analyses and Logistic regression were performed to detect possible risk factors. Results:Univariate analyses showed that patients’ age, tumor size, tumor location, pathological classification, operation time and blood loss were possible risk factors for post-operative hematoma after intracranial meningiomas removal, while Logistic regression demonstrated that patients’ age and pathological classification were significant risk factors for post-operative hematoma after the intracranial meningiomas removal. Conclusion:The study indicated that patients’ age and pathological classification were risk factors for post-operative hematoma after surgery for intracranial meningiomas;Tumor size, tumor location, blood loss and operation time were potential risk factors.
