Objective:The purpose of this study is to explore the clinical efficacy and safety of classical prescription Modified Zhigancao Decoction combined with Metoprolol in the treatment of functional frequent ventricular premature of Type Qi and Yin Deficiency and provide new basis and explore new ideas for clinical administration by use of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) theory and modern medicine theory. Methods:Performed a strict foresighted double-blind and random control study of 60 patients with functional ventricular premature beats of Type Qi and Yin Deficiency. The patients were chose from outpatients or inpatients of Xinhui Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine over the period from February 10,2015 to January 9,2016, and divided randomly into treatment group (n=30) and control group(n=30). Patients in control group were received Metoprolol(12.5mg each time,2 times one day), and patients in treatment group were received Modified Zhigancao Decoction more, treatment durations for both groups were 4 weeks. Observed the change on clinical symptom(palpitation、 chest distress and dyspnea etc.), premature ventricular contractions beats and monitor security indicators before and after treatment. At last, the results of statistic analysis for the data of study were given by using SPSS17.0 software.Results:1. The comparison of comprehensive efficacy:The total effective rate was 76.67%in the treatment group and 50.00%in the control groups after treatment of 4 weeks. The difference between the two groups was significant (P<0.05). The comprehensive efficacy of the treatment group was better than that in control group.2.The comparison of premature ventricular contractions:Two groups of patients with the premature ventricular contractions of 24 hours were both reduced after treatment(P<0.05), the treatment group was better than that in control group(P<0.05).3. The comparison of clinical symptoms efficacy:Observed the TCM symptoms (palpitation, chest distress, dyspnea, dysphoria in chestpalms-soles fatigue, spontaneous perspiration, night sweat, thirst), Two groups of patients with clinical symptoms scores were both decreased by compuring the TCM symptom scores and conducting the statistic analysis, but the change was significantly greater in the treatment group (P<0.05). The total effective rate of TCM symptom was 88.67%in the treatment group and 66.67%in the control groups and the interblock cure effective diversity had statistical significance(P<0.05).4. Safety:Two groups had not been found adverse reactions associated with test drugs and laboratory abnormalities. Conclusion:Contrast with the application by the western medicine only, classical prescription Modified Zhigancao Decoction combined with metoprolol could improve the patients’TCM clinical symptoms and Holter monitoring performance, reduce the frequency of premature ventricular beats happen more effectively. But the exact results have yet to be confirmed by a larger randomized, controlled prospective study.
