Objective:Evaluation of training result and mutual satisfaction by implementation of Management by objectives (MBO) in nurse training program,Methods1. Method:This article evaluates the effect of nurse training by Intervention Method.2. Participants:the experimental group includes 100 nurse trainees at Neurology II department from November 2011 to November 2013; the control group includes 100 nurse trainees at Neurology III departments from November 2011 to November 2013 also. The trainees ask for leave, absent and other not qualified staff during the training process is not included.3. Randomized block design:the participants in Neurology II and III departments are selected by random. Experimental group members from Neurology II department are trained by MBO, Control group members from Neurology III department are trained by traditional training.Sample size (n):suppose incidence rate for control group P1=0.7, incidence rate for experimental group P2=0.9,α=0.05,β=0.1, so n is 100 per group.4. Intervention application and Data collection:Pre-intervention:Set up nurse training MBO list, training observation and evaluation table for the teacher to trainee, satisfaction survey table for the trainee. The teachers of the experimental group are trained per MBO training listExperimental group are trained by MBO training list:training list for the nurse trainees are distributed from the begin of the training process and the training period last 4 weeks. Discussion is held every 2 weeks to find out any deviation to the training list and correct the deviation to streamline the whole process; during the training, once 1 item completed, the trainee is required to evaluate it and fill out the training list. One day before end of the training, satisfaction survey tables are distributed to the trainees and need them to fill out. One day after the training, the teachers are required to fill out the training observation evaluation table.Control Group is trained by traditional method:Training is conducted per ordinary training methods and the training lists and training satisfaction evaluation table are issued and filled out at the last day of training. The teachers are required to fill out the training observation evaluation table. The nurse trainees in both the experimental group and control group are all trained by dedicated teachers.5. Evaluation content and methodsEvaluate and analysis all the data including trainee general information and information in annex table 1,2 and 3 using SPSS 16.0. The method including mean, standard deviation, standard normal distribution, Ttest, Logistic etc.Result:The research for all the 200 participants has been completed. From analysis, "p" values are all greater than 0.05 which means the balance tests are ok for both groups. After normal distribution test, the results are all complied by theoretical score, skill score and combined score. The result shows that the theoretical score and skill score for experimental group are higher than control group significantly, the difference has statistical meaning(P<0.01). the result shows that the theoretical score and skill score for experimental group are higher than control group significantly after the intervention, the difference has statistical meaning(P<0.01). After the implementation of MBO on nurse training, the theoretical score has been improved 21 times (RR=21.011, 95%CI=9.752-45.269), the skill score has been improved 14 times (RR=14.625, 95% CI=7.032-30.416) and the combined score has been improved 23 times (OR=23.993,95%CI=11.085-51.934). The other factors are not major factor and has no statistic meaning (P>0.05).The comparison of test scores to integrated skills for both groups. The test scores for experimental group are greater than those for control group, the difference is OK for statistics (P<0.01). The comparison of satisfaction evaluation for both groups:the scores of both teachers to trainees and trainees to teachers for experimental group are all higher than the scores for control group. The difference is OK for statistics (P<0.05)Conclusion:1. The training effect can be improved for Neurology nurse training program by incorporate the management by objectives theory.2. The training satisfaction from the nurse trainees have been improved by incorporation of the MBO theory.3. The capability of nurse teachers has been improved substantially per the incorporation of MBO also.In practice, the Management by Objectives is a viable method to the clinical education and worth of promotion.
