| Oral lichen planus is one kind of familiar oral mucosa diseases with abnormal keratinization and chronic superficial inflammation, which has a certain potential of malignant transformation and has been included in precancerous conditions by WHO. The incidence of this disease is only less than recurrent aphthous ulcer and its incidence of malignant transformation is about 0.4%-3.2%. The pathogenesis of oral lichen planus is not clear-cut and there are many factors, for example, genetic factors, systemic diseases and local stimulus factors in mouths. Therefore,in order of prevention,,discovery and diagnostics of early oral lichen planus and improvement of the quality of life and survival of patients with oral lichen palnus, it is very important to study the development of mechanisms for oral lichen planus and take targeted individual comprehensive treatment.MMP-9 is a member of the MMPs family and can degrade Collagen Type IV,which is the stable component of the basement membrane. Fascin is one kind of actin-binding protein, which is activated by combining F-action,involves in the movement and adhesion of cells and can make linear pseudopodia, flake pseudopodia and micro spines appear on the cell membrane. There is a great deal of research at home and abroad claiming that MMP-9 and Fascin paly an important role in many malignant cancer diseases, but there has been lack of research with regard to the expression and correlation of MMP-9 and Fascin in oral lichen at present.By using immunohistochemical techniques, the study preliminarily studies the expression of MMP-9 and Fascin in normal oral mucosa, oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma and explores the expression and correlation of MMP-9 and Fascin in oral lichen planus(OLP). Objective:To examine the expression of MMP-9 and Fascin in oral lichen planus(OLP), analyze the correlation of MMP-9 and Fascin and explore the role of MMP-9 and Fascin in the development from normal oral mucosa, oral lichen planus to oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods:The expression of MMP-9 and Fascin in 23 cases of normal oral mucosa,45 cases of oral lichen planus and 46 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) was examined with immunohistochemical technique. The data was analyzed by SPSS,an exact test using software package. Results:1. The expression of MMP-9 in normal oral mucosa, oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma rises in turn. The positive rate respectively is 13.04%(3/23) 〠66.67%(30/45) 〠89.13%(41/46), the comparison among groups is statistically significant(p<0.05).2. The expression of Fascin in normal oral mucosa, oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma rises in turn. The positive rate respectively is 0.00%(0/23)ã€15.56%(7/45)ã€69.57%(32/46), the comparison among groups is statistically significant(p<0.05).3. In oral lichen planus, the expression of MMP-9 is positively correlative with that of Fascin(p<0.05). Conclusion:1. MMP-9 palys an important role in the development from normal oral mucosa, oral lichen planus to oral squamous cell carcinoma.2. Fascin palys an important role in the development from normal oral mucosa, oral lichen planus to oral squamous cell carcinoma.3. MMP-9 and Fascin work together to promote the cancerous progression. |
