The Role Research Of Calf Blood Extract Eye Drops On Moderate To Severe Dry Eye

Objective:To observe the role of calf blood extract eye drops on moderate to severe dry eye.Methods:It was a two-stage cross-over design double-blind controlled study.Forty patients(eighty eyes) diagnosed moderate to severe dry eye in Ocular Surface Clinic of The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from September 2013 to April 2014 were chronologically divide into two groups(Grou A, Group B, twenty patients per group).Group A accepted treatment with autologous serum in the first stage,whereas Group B accepted treatment with calf blood extract eye drops.After fifty days of elution, the treatment of the two groups were exchanged. The signs and symptoms with different therapies were recorded at pre-therapy and post-therapy(2W,1M).Results:After two weeks, ocular signs contains visual fatigue, dry feeling, foreign body sensation, burning sensation, photophobia, pain, ocular surface disease index score had acquired significantly improvement in both groups. The similar results had got in Corneal FL and BUT. One month later,except the above signs and symptoms, blerred vision, redness, vision and Sit et al had acquired improvement in both groups.ALL of the ocular dry eye signs and symptoms mentioned before had not significantly acquired improvement between the two groups.Conclusion:The role of calf blood extract eye drops in severe dry eye (especially moderate dry eye) are releasing ocular dry eye symptoms, promoting corneal epithelial cells repair, prolonging the breakup time of tear film, and can partly replace autologous serum for the treatment of moderately to severe dry eye.
