Retroperitoneal tumor is arising from the retroperitoneal space and the tissues around it, which has a variety of pathological classification and forms. Retroperitoneal benign tumor accounts for the proportion of about 40%. In the early state, retroperitoneal tumor is often lack for special clinical manifestation and symptom, which is result from the broad potential retroperitoneal space for its expansion. And the patients who suffered this kind of disease usually come to hospital for the doctor late when the surrounding tissues are already surrounded and compressed by the huge neoplasm. The major clinical manifestation and symptom is closed related with the compression for surroundings. Such as, the symptom of intestinal obstruction like abdominal pain\distension, vomiting, loss of appetite and anus exhaust stopping, and also the symptom of the compression of venous like edema\thrombosis and so on. Furthermore, too large retroperitoneal benign neoplasm may result to the patient’s death too. So the necessity in therapy is relief obstruction and compression. The surgical treatment for total resection is much more difficult because it is mostly too late and the surroundings are involved by the neoplasm, especially major and important vascular when the patient comes to hospital for doctor. Otherwise, surgery treatment may not obtain good therapeutic effect since the incomplete resection of the tumor. Thus, surgical complete resection is the better way to improve the curative effect in the treatment of retroperitoneal tumor. This paper introduced the progress in the treatment of retroperitoneal benign tumor surrounding abdominal important vascular, and a new surgical method is applied in the total resection of primary retroperitoneal tumor. We performed an operation in a patient who suffered a huge retroperitoneal tumor with abdominal major、important blood vessels by fractionated resection. It has a good application in huge retroperitoneal benign tumor especially surrounding important abdominal blood vessels, when the traditional surgical treatment has difficulty in total excision or high risks in severe complication, like bleeding by vascular injury.
