Objective To study the current status of reproductive age women living with Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in some high Acquired immunedeficiency syndrome (AIDS) prevalence aeras in China, exploring the relevant factors with their contraceptive behaviors. Methods A cross-sectional study was used with a combination of qualitative and quatative method. Investigate respectively women living with HIV of one county or ditinct in Guangxi, Yunnan and Xinjiang province from Dec 2014 to Feb 2015. Collected the quatative data by questionnaire designed by researchers in order to gain the basic information of women living with HIV, including thie social-cultural characteristics, reproductive history, contraceptive behaviors and knowledges, the needs of contraceptive consulting and guiding services. Collected the qualitative data by doing individual dept-interview among women so as to support and supplement the relavent factors of their contraceptive behaviors. Using proporation and absolute number to describe the basic information distribution among women, use a χ2 test and non-conditional multivariable logistic regression to analysis the relevant factors. Asking for the attidude and cause of women why or why not use a contraceptive method or dual methods. Coding, classifying and conclude the main point of women mentioned. Results 357 women living with HIV were involved, median age is 36.0.the contraceptive prevalence among them is 89.9%, the consistent contraceptive proportion is 61.6%, the condom using proportion is 71.1%, the consistent condom using proportation is 59.9%. Further more, the unintentional proportion is 36.1% in Xinjiang province, relatively higher than other two province. In multivariate logistic analysis, women living in Yunnan, have a job but not farmer, have no sence of methds of condom use, have no sence of condom can prevent HIV and STD, have a HIV-positive sexual pattern and sexual inactivity, are related to non-use of condom. While women living in Xinjiang province and exactly know condom can prevent the transmission of HIV and STD are related to more utilization of dual protection. The sexual partner’s negative attidute is an important barrier for women to use contraceptive methods, as to women themselves, lack of correct knowledge of contracption impedes their contracptive behaviors. Conclusions The prevalence of contraceptive use is high in study fields, Yunnan’s contraceptive prevalence is lowest, but the consistent use prevalence is not high, leading a higher unintentional pregnancy proportion, especially in Xinjiang. The reproductive and contraceptive consulting services are still suboptimal. Furthermore, the sexual parter’s negative attidute and lack of crucial information of women themselves hinder an appropriate utilization of contraceptive methods. More particular studys and work should be emphasis on improving the status of contraceptive consulting and guiding work in order to protect women living with HIV on the aspect of reproductive health.
