The Investigation And Analysis On The Health Service Needs And Utilization Among Aged Population In A Community Of Taiyuan

Objective: This research took over 60 years old people to invest,and analysis their health services needs and utilization and influence factors of those. And some problems should be found among the aged population health services. Then based on the study some countermeasures and suggestions would be come up with so as to meet the demand of old people and improve their health status and living quality.Methods: Using Accidental or Convenience Sampling method, Totally 360 old people of a community in Taiyuan were enrolled. Using self-administered questionnaire collected data with the questionnaire on aged population of Taiyuan which designed by myself. Data input use Epi Data3.0, all the data were analyzed by SPSS19.0.Results:(1)There are 355 aged people over age 60 in this research. The ratio between men(193) and women(162) is 1.2:1. The average age is 71 years old. The range is from 60 to 98(2)The Bi-weeks prevalence rate is 29%. The main disease is the common cold. Taking the more part in physical exercise the lower in Bi-weeks prevalence rate in the elderly. The prevalence rate of chronic diseases is 43.9% in the old people.And the main chronic diseases are hypertension, diabetes and cerebrovascular disease etc. Theprevalence rate of chronic diseases is different by gender and health insurance, which is higher in woman or people who participate in health insurance. The rate of health services utilization for surveyed old people is less than that in general population.(3)The rate of people with physician contact within two weeks is 12.7%,the rate of people without physician contact within two weeks is 56.3%. The rate of hospitalization is 17.7%, the rate of people who without hospitalization is 55.4%. The rate of people with physician contact within two weeks are different in income level. The rate of hospitalization are different in income level, health insurance and chronic diseases.Conclusions:(1)The health services needs of surveyed old people are more than general population. The health services utilization of surveyed old people are less than general population. Under this circumstances,the aged people have to be at disadvantage. All of the society should give more attention to the aged people.And put the health education for aged people as a key. Develop the health life style and enhance the community health service centre. Improve the health condition of old people.(2)The main factors which influence the old people’s utilization are chronic diseases and income. The government should pay more attention to the chronic diseases and improve the health insurance. We should provide powerful support for aged people.
