Objective: To investigate the influence of periodontal health status on the patients in different dental functional dentitions before and after the prosthodontics treatment.Materials and Methods: 130 patients were randomly selected in the department of prosthodontics from February to July 2014. The questionaire survey and oral examination were implemented before and 6 weeks after prosthodontics treatment. The bone loss was calculated by measuring the bone height from different references on ramfjord teeth in the panaramic x-ray. The Nijmegen hierarchical classification system was used to category the different functional dentitions of patients. The multi-regression analyses were implemented to explore the relationship between the different variables. Results: Age had the significant negative influence on lowest bone loss ratio(P<0.05). The lowest bone loss ratio related significantly with the second level of Nijmegen hierarchical classification system “more than 10 teeth in each jaw”(P=0.008 and B=5.019). The lowest rate of alveolar bone loss were negative correlation with OHIP-14 score before clinical treatment. The OHIP-14 score after the treatment was related significantly with the score before treatment(P < 0.001 B=0.3), and self-evaluation on dental problem solved(P < 0.001 B=4.221). Gender and help on filling in questionnaire has no significant influence on the lowest bone loss ratio. Conclusions: In our study age influenced significantly on lowest bone resorption ratio. There was a significant correlation between lowest bone resorption ratio and “more than 10 teeth in each jaw” of the Nijmegen hierarchical functional classification system. The OHRQo L after clinical treatment was related with the OHRQo L before treatment, and self-evaluation on the degree of dental problem solved.
