Objective:To observe the efficacy and adverse reactions of intense pulsed light(IPL) incorporated with optimal pulsetechnology(OPT)in the treatment of lip and axillary hair removal.Methods::We collected the materials of the patients who demand to remove hair on the lip and axil ary and accept treatment regularly in The second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from september 2013 to December 2014. We use intense pulsed light(IPL) incorporated with optimal pulse technology(OPT) on hair removal. that produced in Amercian Lumenis company, A total of 67 patients were treated with intense pulsed light(IPL) with optimal pulse technology(OPT) on 97 sites. Five sessions were performed at an interval of 4 weeks. Hair removal efficiency, calculated as percentage ratio of the number of terminal hair compared with baseline counts. we choose different wavelength, energy density, pulse width and delay time based on the Fitzpatrick parting of the patients’ skin, the colour depth, thickness, dense and the degree of tolerance and so on. we record hair density of the treatment site(root/cm2)on the first time, second time, third time, forth time, fifth time before treatment and after the fifth,we standarded the hair dense decrease percent that before treatment and after treatment to analyse treatment effects.our research use 1cm2 as the unit area to count hair, and we choose the fixed sites as the place that we observed, then we photograph the oberved sites to collect the image datas and keep them in a file before treatment and after 1 month of fifth treatment.we need to followed up for 2months to observe the untoward reactions after the sessions of treatment, and judge the degree of the subjective satisfaction of the doctors and the patients. Results: The effective rate of Lip hair 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times after treatment is:26.9%, 49.2%, 68.7%, 80.6%, 68.7%;The effective rate of axillary hair 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times after treatment is: 46.7%,86.7%,90%,100%,90%; after the treatment of efficient respectively, the lips effective rate increases with the increase of the number, and the difference has statistically significant(F=86.25,P<0.05).Axillary effective rate increase with the increase of the number, the difference has statistically significant(F = 101.25, P < 0.05);The lips and axillary hair after each treatment efficiency is found, the first, second, third and fourth axillary hair effective rate after treatment have significantly higher than that of the lips hair, but after treatment of the fifth times has no significant difference of both efficient(specific see table 2). All patients were followed up for 2 mont hs, no adverse reaction occurred. The total satisfaction of patients to treatment: very satisfaction and satisfaction rate is 87.6%; the total satisfaction of doctor for treatment is: very satisfaction rate and satisfaction rate is 91.8%,the difference has no statistically significant(c2=2.85,P>0.05).Conclusions: This study demonstrates that IPL-OPT is a safe and effective treatment option for lip and axil ary hair removal., with relatively few side effects, also efficacy is incorporated with number treatment 、the thickness of hair、colour and luster...
