| Purpose To investigate the significance of HDAC2 protein overexpression on prognostic evaluation of breast cancer.Materials and Methods HDAC2 protein was detected in 98 of breast cancer, 32 cases of adjacent nontumor tissues and 14 samples of DCIS using SP immunohistochemical. Correlation between HDAC2 overexpression and patients prognosis was also analyzed. Results The positive rate and strongly positive rate of HDAC2 protein were 65.3% (64/98) and 49.0%(48/98) in breast cancer, which were significantly higher compared with the adjacent nontumor tissues (34.4% and 15.6%, both P<0.05). The positive rate in DCIS was 35.7% (5/14), has no statiscally significant differerce. High-level expression of HDAC2 protein was correlated with late clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and HER-2 positive expression in breast cancer, but not with age and so on.Conclusions HDAC2 expression level is closely correlated with the progression and prognosis of patients with breast cancer. High level of HDAC2 expression may be used as an important indicator for patients with poor prognostic breast. |
