Objective:Compare postoperative recovery after surgery between Dixon and Miles, including the postoperative complications, postoperative hospitalization days, local recurrence rate, distant metastasis rate, quality of the life and 3 year survival rate,to explore the rational treatment in the low rectal cancer(the distance from anus is under 7cm).Methods:Retrospective analysis a total of 167 low rectal cancer patients in surgery treatment in our hospital during January 2009 and December 2011.According to the kind of surgery way, divided into two groups: Dixon group 51 cases and Miles group116 cases.Compare the clinical pathological factors, the postoperative complications, postoperative hospitalization days, local recurrence rate, distant metastasis rate, quality of the life and 3 year survival rate between the two groups,to determine whether there is statistically significant. Results:There is no significant difference between the two groups in the clinical pathological factors, the postoperative complications and postoperative hospitalization and local recurrence rate and distant metastasis rate, either in the 3 year survival rate(Dixon group 68.6% and Miles group 70.7%).But there is signification difference in the quality of life(by PAC-QOL),Dixon group is obviously better than Miles group. Conclusion:There is significant difference in the quality of the life(Dixon group is obviously better than Miles group),but in the terms of the postoperative complications, postoperative hospitalization days, local recurrence rate, distant metastasisrate, and 3 year survival, there is no significant difference. So if we can guarantee the radical resection in those low rectal cancer patients who are diagnosed,Dixon surgery is better.
