Objective:To compare the perioperative outcomes of single-incision and multiple-incision thoracoscopic lobectomy. Background:Reports of single-incision thoracoscopic lobectomy for lung cancer are limited, and comparisons between single-incision and multiple-incision thoracoscopic lobectomy for lung cancer are fewer. Thus, this study retrospectively analyzes the perioperative outcomes of single-incision and multiple-incision thoracoscopic lobectomy. Methods:We collect28patients with lung cancer underwent thoracoscopic lobectomy via a single-incision and29patients with lung cancer underwent thoracoscopic lobectomy via a multiple-incision technique from May2013and March2015. All the data are from one thoracic surgery treatment group of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. We compare the characteristics and perioperative outcomes between the two groups. Results:Overall,29patients underwent single-incision thoracoscopic lobectomies and28patients underwent multiple-incision thoracoscopic lobectomies between May2013and March2015. The operative time, numbers of lymphnodes, length of hospital stay and the complication rate were not significantly different between the2groups. Single-incision thoracoscopic lobectomy were associated with less intraoperative blood loss (P<0.05) than with the multiple-incision approach. No in-hospital mortality occurred in either group.Conclusions:Single-incision thoracoscopic lobectomy are safe and feasible, and perioperative outcomes are comparable with those of the multiple-incision approach.
