Objective: Consensus has been reached about the indications andcontraindications of HRT, there still are some situations could be used withcaution. Little information is available concerning the impact of hormonereplacement therapy on the outcomes of patients previously treated of ovariancancer. The objective of this article is to compare the effect of HRT followed byradical surgery of epithelial ovarian carcinoma by the method of meta-analysis.Material and Method:Pubmed, Medline, Cochrane, Web of science, CBM,Wanfang Data,CNKI were searched for relevant studies in English and Chinesewhich were published during1990.01-2015.01.We evaluate all the collectedarticles with principles and methods of systematic evaluation.Relevant datasextracted were analysed with Revman5.3.Results:Five articals on the effect of HRT followed by radical surgery ofepithelial ovarian carcinoma were included, four articals were in English andone were in Chinese. One randomized trial, three observational studies and onecohort study were included. Results were as follows: in HRT group, there werestatistical significant improvment in mortality rate(RR=0.66,95%CI (0.48-0.91), P=0.01); there were no statistical significant differences between HRTgroup and control group patients in recurrence rate(RR=0.82,95%CI (0.63-1.06), P=0.13>0.05). Conclusion: This meta-analysis outcomes tends to be in favour of HRT,including improving overall survival, quality of life and reducing menopausesymptoms. But it should be noted that, because of the selection bias andperformance bias, we still need more high-quality RCT studies to do.
