Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of120W greenlight high performance system (HPS) laser for photoselective vaporization of prostate (PVP) procedure in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).Methods:From May2009to Oct2011,94patients were treated with greenlight HPS laser. The operating time, estimated blood loss, post-operative catheterizati On time, complications and International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS)were recorded. Results:All procedures were completed. Mean operative time was(41.3±15.5)min. Mean estimated blood loss was(30.5±16.5)mL. NO patients needed blood transfusion. Mean postoperative indwelling catheterization was(19±6)(ranging12~26)h. No patients suffered from incontinence, secondary hemorrhage, acute urinary retention or needed re-operation. Postoperative IPSS score, QOL score and RUV compared with preoperative were significantly decreased, with significant differences between pre-and post-operation parameters(P<0.05). Conclusions:HPS PVP procedures in benign prostatic hyperplasia are associated with short operative time, small amount of blood loss, increased safety, decreased complications and rapid recovery. |
