The doctor-patient relationship is a special relationship between patient families and themedical staffs in medical treatment process; it is the most important and core part of themedical relationship. This relationship should be symbolic and complementary, if any party’sinterests were damaged; the others can’t be guaranteed neither. However, in recent years, thedoctor-patient relationship has become more and more intense, resulting in more medicalmalpractice and sometimes doctor-patient violence. Patients do not trust the doctors; doctorsalso feel that their personal safety is not guaranteed. There are many reasons which causethese intense doctor-patient relationship including the institutional reasons, the media andpublic influence and both the doctors and patients themselves.Morality issues in either party are likely lead to doctor-patient conflicts. Public opinionthat patients are disadvantaged will push the doctors to the downside. On the one side, thesociety requires high professional ethics of doctors. This can be seen form both ancientproverbs like "Medicine Is Benevolence" or "meticulosities and meticulosities make a greatdoctor" or modern term "People-oriented" or "Patient-centered". On the other hand, doctors,as representatives of social and national interests, can neither follow "individuals aresubordinated to collectivity" to harm the interests of patients, nor follow the "patient first"principle to damage the social and national interests. doctors are faced with complex conflictswhen making moral choices。In the process of medical treatment, there also exist a series ofunethical behaviors for patients when they are seeking medical advice or protecting theirinterests. To ease the doctor-patient conflict and build a harmonious doctor-patient relationship, joint efforts are needed from society, doctors, patients and even media。For doctors, theyshould strengthen the medical ethics and solve the ethical conflicts that they are faced with. For patients, they should gain some medical and legal knowledge through media education. Finally, doctors can implement civilized service and humanism and care about the patients;patients also respect doctors’ personality and labor, cooperate with doctors actively and protect their interests through legitimate ways.
